Private companies given incentives to employ disabled people

THE LABOUR Ministry yesterday announced three plans, which aim at easing the lives of people with special needs in Cypriot society.

The first two plans fall within the Labour Department’s duties and involve the provision of motives for the employment of disabled people in the private sector.

The plans hope to provide financial aid to employers so that they can employ people with disabilities. The amount will be assessed in accordance to the person’s disability.

Plan 1 involves the Deposit of Social Security to Employers and Disabled Employees. This concerns people with any degree of disability.

Plan 2 involves the Provision of Motives for the employment of people with heavy disabilities (mental, physical, visual and aural) in the Private Sector

The two aforementioned plans will be sponsored with £900,000 in total and is predicted to cover 750 persons with disabilities.

Plan 3 will be adjusted by the Welfare Services and will involve the Professional Adjustment and Promotion of State Benefit Receivers into Employment.

Specifically, the Welfare Services will offer state benefit receivers the opportunity to attend special learning circles and according to their capabilities and success in lessons, they will be given positions in the market.
