Hot Scotch Toddy

Winding down after a long day at work or if you are ready to go to bed or even when the flu is knocking at your door, there’s no better comfort cure than a spicy and aromatic Hot Toddy. The name ‘toddy’ might come from ‘terrie’, a 17th century word for a drink made from palm tree sap and drunk in the East Indies. The most common of the hot toddy recipes features Scotch whisky but it can also be made with any of your favorite spirits like brandy, dark rum, bourbon whiskey or even a pungent malt whisky. And you can also drink it cold. Have a rest and Salute!
Ingredients
5cl Scotch whisky
7cl boiling water
2cl freshly squeezed lemon juice
3 dashes Angostura bitters
1 tsp clear honey
3 cloves
Twist of lemon
Preparation
Pour the whisky and the honey into a heatproof glass. Add the lemon juice, angostura and the boiling water. Stir vigorously to dissolve the honey. Spear the cloves into the twist of lemon and place into the glass. Stir again and garnish with a cinnamon stick.
