AKEL beefs up Central Committee

AKEL yesterday announced they would be increasing their Central Committee by five persons.

The party’s plenum met yesterday in preparation of its upcoming 20th conference, which will be taking place from November 24-27.

Party spokesman Andros Kyprianou said yesterday the party’s aim was to respond to its practical duties.

“The plenum discussed and approved of a number of candidates for the Central Committee, a timetable of the conference’s jobs, conference committees and a financial report.”

Two committees were added, said Kyprianou.

“We are hoping that the coming conference is a success and that it will send positive messages to the Cypriot public and remind them that AKEL was, is and will remain a first rate political strength in the political matters of the Republic. It will be the biggest political force, which will promote and protect the best interests of the state’s working classes,” he concluded.
