Tried and tested: Angel therapy

Jimmy Stewart was guided by one in It’s a Wonderful Life, Oscar-winning actor Denzil Washington firmly believes in them and David Beckham has one tattooed on his back and three smaller examples on his left arm. We are talking about angels. Last weekend I was invited to find out more, guided by angel practitioner Suzanne Mitchell Egan.

What is it supposed to do?
Angel therapy allows one to develop a compassionate understanding of the way people fulfil their lives or blight them by not opening their hearts. Suzanne instinctively teaches clients how to open up and ever so gently get in touch with their inner spirit, to relax and find that place of peace that most of us are oblivious to.
Under Suzanne’s guidance, one has the feeling of true serenity, of being safe from harm, almost sheltered from the increasing harshness of life. The interesting element is the enthusiasm with which one starts to embrace angel therapy.

What benefits does it claim?
If one believes in angels they, in turn, give us the strength to cope with and accept serious illness and bereavement. They also help prevent fatal accidents as they will intervene to save you. They offer companionship when you are alone and afraid
The awareness of belief in angels helps one to reassess life. They offer hope, calm and reassurance in times of great trouble, that may make themselves known as a full frontal visitation with wings and white frock. However, this stereotypical image is quite rare as even the most together person is going to experience a bit of an emotional wobbly at such a sight. Angels are far more circumspect, preferring to come in a guise that the individual can cope with.

Angel followers are also automatic believers in God as angels are his dedicated messengers. Angels should not be worshipped, only listened to and thanked.

What is it like?
The actual therapy is an eyes closed relaxation session with Suzanne taking you on a very personal visual journey. During the trip you do feel some wonderful pleasing moments of peace, that for me was almost the biggest bonus of the evening. Then I was given an angel reading with special angel cards and told who my guardian angel was. This was way off what I had always assumed a guardian angel was; it was not a deceased relative charged with looking over me but a powerful professional who may well have borrowed the face of a loved one.

Angels are assigned into nine orders: Seraphim, Cherubum, Thrones, Dominions, Virtues, Powers, Principalities, Archangels and Angels.

Angels will also appear in the following forms:
l As an unexplained strong sweet scent which is very common at the time of a death.
l They can be heard as a voice or as a choir of angels
l Some have also experienced the sensation of feeling wings being enveloped around ones body. Others have seen a light or a fixed beam often at the moment of a person death.

Is there any science behind it?
No and neither is there any quantifiable science behind Christianity and the existence of Christ. This is a personal belief system, something that can only enhance not harm the human spirit.
