British pensioner killed in accident

AN ELDERLY British man was killed yesterday in a car crash in Epsikopi near Limassol.

The man, identified by local media as 85-year-old Charlie Wayne Clarke, did not stop the saloon car he was driving at a stop sign, connecting Episkopi with the Paphos-Limassol motorway.

A truck coming in from the side slammed into the side of his car.

Clarke’s car struck the side-railings before finally ending up in a ditch. Police said the driver died as a result of his injuries. His wife was injured but is out of danger. She was taken to Limassol General Hospital where she is still being kept in for observation.
