The legacy of Edith Cavell

Sir,
Reading the letter about the English nurse, Edith Gavell, it took me back to my teenage days, more than 65 years ago. I read in a book that Edith Cavell working in her profession in Belgium, a country overrun by the German military. She was wrongly convicted of being an English spy and executed by firing squad at dawn, on October 12, 1915.

Perhaps Marie-Angela Ayiomamitis was unaware that Edith Cavell’s death came this way.
