CTO to survey tourist perceptions

THE CYPRUS Tourism Organisation (CTO) is conducting a medium-term study to determine how tourists view Cyprus and what impressions they come away with.

The survey, which will be completed in November, involves some 5,000 tourists being interviewed briefly at the airport on departure over the entire year.

According to a CTO spokesman they are being asked what they expected from their holiday, what impressions they had before coming to Cyprus and what were their findings and impressions on leaving. Value for money will form part of the questioning.

“They are being asked a few short questions to determine what their experience was as opposed to what they expected,” the spokesman said. “The study will be used as a barometer.”

He said this would be the first extensive study of its kind in Cyprus.
Some 2.5 million tourists visit Cyprus every year, with over half of that number coming from the UK.
