Spare a thought for AremisSoft investors

Sir,
I have always wanted to visit your country. I studied Greek and worked on a Cypriot freighter in my youth. I was trained to be a sailor by a Cypriot crew. In my memory it was the best of times.

I am quite upset by the news of Lycourgos Kyprianou trying to escape justice in the AremisSoft fraud case. His wife seems very greedy. Her request from the court for an unreasonable clothing allowance is proof of how she thinks. These are not the Cypriot people I have known. I read your news every day waiting for more information.
I know of many investors who lost everything. I know of investors who committed suicide, lost everything they owned, and many families were destroyed.

We Americans aren’t all rich like everyone thinks. We are slaves of a system which doesn’t respond to our wishes. We suffer and work everyday to make it.

The money I invested came from years as a school teacher and a computer programmer. It was a great loss for me.

The fact that the people who committed such a blatant and large fraud live a lifestyle that they flaunt in the face of the people of Cyprus is incredible. I have known many hard working Cypriots in my life. I was impressed by the spirit of life, the strong family values, and the good food.

Surely, the people of Cyprus can stand up to these people.
