Jet-ski tragedy is no surprise

Sir,

The tragic accident at Pissouri does not surprise me. As a regular visitor to Cyprus for more years than I care to remember, I have watched with horror the antics of the jet-ski operators in Pissouri. The whole idea appears to get the people on the machines and off as quickly as possible and take the money, no questions asked.

Unfortunately it is not until an accident happens that anyone sits up and asks what is going on in the tourist industry. Tragically, now we have a young dead girl and her boyfriend who will now have to go through the horrors of appearing in court to plead his case, no doubt he will be let off, having suffered enough through this awful period.
The jet-ski owners will be find a measly sum, and told not to do it again.

And the judge in the case will tell the industry to pull up its socks so that this sort of accident will never happen again. Of course, I am only surmising, but it will certainly be interesting to see the outcome.

In the meantime we all have sincere sympathy for Hanna’s parents and of course James.
