The world’s biggest kebab

THE owner of fast food chain Sam’s Food yesterday broke his own Guinness World Record for the world’s biggest doner kebab.

Sami Eid told the Sunday Mail: “I am very happy and proud to again set the world record. I’ve tried to find somebody that can beat me but can’t. It would be nice to have some competition.”
The giant chicken kebab, prepared and cooked in Limassol, weighed in at a whopping 1,815 kilos, 115 more than was aimed for. It stood 1.6m high with a diameter of 1.55m.

Twelve people started preparing the feast in the parking lot of the Yermasoyia River’s tourist area, at 9.30 am, with the first kebab served at midday.

The kebab was made from 2,150 chickens with Eid saying he was ready to feed 17,000 people.
“I have done this for charity, for the Maronite Antonine Sisters, who desperately need a new residence. I am hoping to raise anything between £10,000 and £30,000 from selling kebab coupons to members of the public over a period of 24 hours.”
