Top schools are represented at Cyprus fairs

I compliment you on your Educationmatters feature and, specifically, on the column Choosing a foreign university by Dr. Jim Leonitiades, which appeared on 5 April, 2005. One small point: Dr. Leonitiades wisely advised students to attend student fairs, but he suggests that some of the best schools are not represented, or only marginally represented, at such fairs.

This may be generally true, but, as Chairman of the Cyprus Fulbright Commission, I’d like to point out that our annual university fair is an exception. In October 2004, for example, the Fulbright US University Fair hosted representatives from three Ivy League schools (Columbia, Cornell and Yale). Moreover, very high quality smaller schools were also well represented, such as Hamilton College (coincidentally the alma mater of US Ambassador to Cyprus, Michael Klosson), Macalester College (alma mater of UN Secretary-general Kofi Annan) and Grinnell College.

I invite all prospective students to mark their calendars now for our next Fulbright University Fair, which will take place on October 11, 2005 – from 4 to 7pm at the JW Fulbright Center next to Ledra Palace in the buffer zone.
