Ministers agree on ERM II efforts

FINANCE Minister Makis Keravnos and his Greek counterpart George Alogoskoufis said yesterday they would step up cooperation in all economic fields, including within the framework of the EU.

Speaking at a joint press conference, both Keravnos (left) and Alogoskoufis praised the level of economic cooperation between the two countries, but said there was room for further development.

Alogoskoufis gave reassurances that Greece supported Cyprus’ bid to enter the Exchange Rate Mechanism (ERM II), adding that Greece will also support Cyprus’ bid to receive more European Funds as an island EU member-state.

In his statements, Keravnos said that Cyprus’ accession to ERM II would be achieved as soon as possible.
