Division would be a disaster

I AM not sure that D. Pavlou’s suggestion that Cyprus be divided up like England and Scotland is a particularly good idea (Letters February 14).

At the moment Scottish MPs have the right to vote on English laws, but English MPs cannot vote on the laws in Scotland. It is a problem known as the West Lothian Question.
As I presume the Turks are meant to be the Scots in this scenario, it would mean Turkish MPs having a say on what happens in the Greek area, but no Greek MP could vote on what happens in the Turkish area. It all sounds rather like the disastrous 1960 constitution.
