TAKE SEVEN: CUSHIONS

Would you leave the house to go out in just a white t-shirt and jeans? No scarf, no belt, no earrings, no bag? I didn’t think so! In the same way, cushions bring style to the couch and a personal touch. Here are a few guaranteed to jazz up any boring furniture or maybe something subtle for that huge red couch.

Marks and Spencers
If you’ve been thinking about getting rid of the old beige couch and replacing it with something modern, then maybe throwing on a few of these will do the job without breaking the bank. The terracotta tones can definitely jazz up any pale piece of furniture. Plus there’s nothing to worry about if they get dirty, just stick it in the washing machine. 100 per cent cotton, mix it with classic or even retro, it still looks great.

Zara Home
There was something so eye-catching about this little wonder from Zara Home, I spent half an hour walking around with it under my arm. A mix between ethnic, modern and effortlessly chic, this cushion would only suit a high-maintenance room. Unlike most cushions, it looks good on a bed, an armchair or a couch but work with it carefully; the black, fuchsia and orange combination could be tricky.

Erm?s
I’m not really fond of seasonal home accessories. It’s bad enough I have no room for my clothes and therefore have to pack and un pack every time the weather changes, I can’t be asked to do the same with things like cushions. However, a furry cushion case was enough to change my mind. Even though it was actually dirt cheap, this cushion was actually one of the softest of the lot. Black, grey and white, I could imagine it on a hot pink, purple or even red couch.

Habitat
Expecting nothing but excellence and style, a hot pink cushion by Habitat would be a great choice. Of course, again, this would have to be placed in a very modern environment, either living room or bedroom. The cover is 37 per cent viscose velvet and ever so soft but the most striking feature about it is, naturally, the rectangular shape. Available in red, light blue, black and orange.

Terrano
They were stacking these on the shelves when I waltzed in. Unlike the rest, this cushion has that ethnic style you rarely come across anymore. So, leaving behind the ultra chic, modern version, I would say this is the perfect cushion for a lived-in, comfortable TV room. Although the material did seem a bit rough at first, it is100 per cent cotton and machine washable. Available in various other designs.

Trokkoudes and Kyros
It was actually quite difficult to pick just one out of the many fabulous cushions Trokkoudes and Kyros have on display. But eventually I went for the pink and orange ones, which scream style and comfort from all four corners. Whether it’s for the kids or you simply feel like having some fun for once in your living room, without a doubt, this is the way to go. In addition, with this price tag, cold you possibly go wrong?
Price: £10 for 40x40cm and £12 for 50x50cm

To top off our selection of cushions, Bo Concept has actually managed to bundle all we have mentioned into one package. Bring to life a dead brown armchair or simply toss on a divan, the three delicate cloth-flowers are bound to bring a smile to anyone’s face.
