Student died of electrocution

AN AUTOPSY on the body of a 20-year-old Cypriot student who collapsed and died in Greece while taking an exam has revealed the cause of death as electrocution.

Iacovos Metaxas, from Galata, was taking an electronics exam at the Larissa Institute of Technology in Greece on June 18 when he suddenly lost consciousness and fell to the floor, while handling electronics equipment. He was rushed to the town’s hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

At the time, the authorities said he had suffered a heart attack.

According to Greek television, legal proceedings have been initiated against two professors at the Institute, while maintenance staff are also due to be quizzed.
