Man attacked on Limassol seafront

A 28-YEAR-old Iranian was attacked by four of his compatriots on the Limassol seafront, police said yesterday.

The assault occurred on Monday night, at approximately 9.15 pm. The 28-year-old was attacked by a group of four men, unknown to him. The men threw the victim to the ground and started beating him with pieces of wood and glass bottles. They then fled the scene on foot, leaving him on the ground.

The Iranian was taken to Limassol General Hospital, where it was found he had sustained sharp wounds on his arms and back, as well as a fracture to the left hip. He was kept at the Orthopedic Unit for surgery.

Limassol Police closed off the area and guarded it throughout Monday night, in order to examine the site in the morning and extract evidence. Investigations on the case continue.
