Man fined for swearing at taxi drivers

A MAN from Nicosia was yesterday fined £391 by a Nicosia District Court for threatening three taxi drivers.

Andreas Constantinou pleaded guilty to three counts of public unrest and swearing in public on May 27 last year.

According to the first charge, Constantinou told Greek national Panayiotis Meligaliotis “Hey you pen pusher, move your car and don’t you dare park it there again otherwise I’ll smash it up!”

In the second charge, he said to Androulla Stylianou, “Hey Androulla, get out of here because if I see you here again I’ll get into a car and run you over!”
In the third charge, he told Christos Doulas, also a Greek national, “I’m going to smash up all of your cars you f*** it!”

The court heard how Doulas had rented a taxi office off Constantinou but the two then fell out. Constantinou had then been angered by Doulas, who had since set up his own taxi company, and would send taxis to areas which Constantinou considered his turf.
Constantinou is also facing pimping and prostitution related charges in other cases in Nicosia.

He was fined £150 for the first charge, £150 for the second charge and £35 for the third charge. He was ordered to pay the court expenses for the trial which came to £56.
