APOEL take on AEL in tense clash

LEAGUE leaders APOEL will host bitter rivals AEL Limassol in the big match tomorrow as Marinos Ouzounides’s side look to preserve their unbeaten run in the league.

With police security expected to be tight in light of the recent crowd trouble which has marred the encounters between two sides, all eyes will be on the game in Nicosia.
The potential powder-keg match will also be refereed by controversial referee Costas Kapitanis.

The big question from the APOEL camp is whether Ouzounides will field French defender Bark Seghiri who is nursing a slight injury.

Fourth place AEL will be without top scorer and former APOEL attacker Sasa Jovanovic as they hope to bounce back from their 2-2 home draw to Nea Salamina last weekend – a game in which Jovanovic scored twice.

In-from Omonia visit Enosis Neon Paralimniou, who are languishing in the relegation zone today in a game which Paralimni officials claim will be the turning point for their side this season.

In other games today, champions Apollon – 12 points adrift of first place APOEL – host Dighenis Morphou at the Tsirium Athletic Centre whilst new Olympiakos Nicosia coach Costas Malekos will be aiming for his first win in his new role when Svetoza Sapuric’s Ethnikos Achnas visit the GSP.

In Larnaca, Nea Salamina will be entertaining this year’s surprise packages Ayia Napa.
Tomorrow, AEK Larnaca take on Aris Limassol – themselves a side who have defied the odds so far this season – while last placed AEP Paphos will have had task against Timuri Ketsbaia’s Anorthosis Famagusta.
