Body identified as Polish man

THE body of a man found trapped inside a Limassol building’s service duct last weekend was yesterday identified, police said.

Limassol police said a witness had identified the 43-year-old Polish man as Marian Grzegorz.

He was found on Saturday morning trapped between the first and middle floors of a building’s service ducts in which its fire, water and drainage pipes were located. He was removed with the help of the fire department. It is believed he somehow slipped and fell down the shaft.

His identification had not been possible until now because he had no sort of documentation on him when he was found and had not been reported missing.

The man’s cause of death is still not known.

State pathologist, Sophoclis Sophocleous, who performed the autopsy on the victim, said the fall had not killed him. It is hoped that toxicology and tissue samples from the victim will shed more light on how Grzegorz died.
