Tequila Sunrise

The variety of Agave used for the production of tequila is the Agaves tequilana Weber, also known as the Blue Agaves and, despite the spiky appearance, it is not a cactus. Maquey (from the same family of agave) is used to produce the Mezcal. The word Mezcal originated from the Aztec language and means a potent Mexican spirit. 100 per cent agave, Blanco, Gold, Reposado and A?ejo are most of the categories of tequila according to percentages of agave and ageing period that you can find in high-market shelf but tequila limited edition or family collection has, in the last few years, become a collectable item for aficionados. Below is a classic Mexican 1920s recipe, popular in the Prohibition era because it looked just like orange juice. Salute!
Ingredients
5cl Silver Tequila
15cl fresh orange juice
1cl Grenadine
Preparation
Pour the Tequila and the orange juice into a highball filled with ice. Stir. Gently add the grenadine. Stir just before drinking to create a fabulous sunrise effect. Garnish with a slice of orange.
