LTV faces court action over Nova dispute

MULTICHOICE Hellas said yesterday it had given LTV a last chance to return to the Nova Cyprus platform and would now be exercising its legal rights.

“Multichoice Hellas gave the opportunity to Lumiere TV Public Company to comply with the valid and binding agreement between the two companies. Lumiere was given until yesterday to restore the LTV channel to the Nova Cyprus bouquet but failed to even reply to the correspondence of Multichoice Hellas,” an announcement from the company said.

“The time limit that Multichoice set lapsed without LTV taking any action and from now on, Multichoice Hellas is obliged to exercise all its contractual and legal rights as well as to claim the restitution of any damage it suffered.”

Last week, LTV announced its sudden departure from the Nova platform and proceeded with discontinuing the service, a move which affected some 25,000 Nova subscribers.

LTV said the move was the result of an “unreasonable refusal” by Multichoice Hellas SA, owners of Nova Cyprus to pay them fees due for the months of April and May.

On Tuesday, LTV and the Cyprus Telecommunications Authority (CyTA) announced that LTV would be moving to the miVision digital platform as of Wednesday.
