Noise police driving tourists away

Sir,
I am writing to complain about what is going on in the Ayia Napa, Protaras, Penera area, of which I and many others are resident. We were enjoying, along with many tourists, a very good evening at a pub when in came not one but four plain clothed police to fine and take to court the owner of the pub. It was 11.50pm at the time and it ruined the night, they then went to all the other bars in the area to do the same.

Yet I live in a residential area where they let a club play very loud music till the early hours of the morning and the police take no notice of them, despite numerous calls from myself and other residents. This club opened last October and has had this music booming out every night, sometimes until 4am.

Tourism is down for this year and what the police are now doing is going to make it worse, as these tourists will go home to wherever and say ‘don’t go to Cyprus you are not allowed to enjoy yourselves after 10 at night’.

Not only is this annoying the persons having a good time, but is not fair on the owners, who are trying to make a living.

Would the police not be better off trying to catch drink drivers, and people on phones, and the stupid parents who do not strap there children into car seats or use seat belts.

Also what about the scooter and motorbike riders who do not wear crash helmets, the police could make a fortune out of this, as well as saving the hospitals thousands of pounds trying to put these stupid people back together,

Tourism is down and they cannot see why. They should get their act together and start doing a better job than stopping people who have saved hard for there holiday here and do something more constructive, why upset the people who pay their wages because believe me, these holiday makers will not come back and will tell friends not to bother.
