Kick-start for budding footballers

COACHING STAFF of Scottish football champions Celtic FC will be on the island next month for the second Celtic Cyprus Summer School of Football.

The coaching team will train, interact and share their experiences of top-flight football and will select two young talents for trials in Scotland.

The event is being organised by the Pansolios Football Academy, which has maintained an academy of 120 students since 2003.

Head Coach Iros Herodotou told the Mail that the Summer School will take place between June 25 and 29 and then again from July 2 to 6 at the Kakopetria football field.

Participants must be between the ages of 10 and 16 and need to register by May 31.

The fee is £180, which includes participation fee, room and full board, all transportation and uniforms.

Training will take place in the morning and afternoon, with various other supervised activities, such as swimming, also taking place.

The last day will feature an award party, with medals and certificates of participation handed out.
