Elderly woman dies in bizarre road kill

A BIZARRE road accident in Mesa Geitonia, Limassol yesterday claimed the life of 90-year-old Athanasia Christodoulou, who was struck down while sitting on a chair on the pavement.

The accident occurred in the afternoon when a 43-year-old woman from Limassol in an attempt to pull out into the road from the pavement, where she was parked, under circumstances still being investigated, drove her car into the elderly woman, who was sitting in a chair in front of her.

Critically wounded, Christodoulou was taken to Limassol General hospital where she later died. She is the 76th person to be killed in Cyprus’ roads this year.
