Discrimination in the army

Sir,

I would like to caution the Armenian House Representative against the government’s move to integrate the Armenians into the National Guard.

Mr Mahdessian’s statement not to oppose this move before all the hurdles, are overcome bewildered me.

The question he should be asking his community beforehand, is if they are prepared to tackle this task with the same renowned Cypriot egotism? If the answer were yes, this would probably be the closest they will come in receiving any form of equality, but at what costs.

My four East African born sons served in this very same National Guard, and I can assure you they reserve their own opinions about the whole affair. I received the brunt of their dissatisfaction seeing as I was responsible for persuading them to settle in our fatherland.

Now, I am pleased for persuading them to emigrate once more; at least our self-esteem has been restored.
