Man arrested for pimping Greek women

POLICE have arrested a man on suspicion of pimping two Greek women at a flat in Nicosia.

Greek citizen Xenophontos Sergis is suspected of conspiracy to commit a crime, running a brothel, illegally earning from prostitution, pimping and sexual exploitation.

Sergis was arrested following a raid on an apartment reportedly being used as a brothel.

According to Constable Demetris Christou, two informants had booked an appointment to visit the apartment and had paid £40 and £30 each.

The men visited the apartment on Monday and were greeted by two Greek women.

“The first man had paid £40 and was taken into a room by one of the women who then proceeded to give him a massage before giving him oral sex without a condom,” the investigator told the court.

“When the first man had finished, the second man then paid £30 and was taken into a room by the same woman, who then proceeded to give him oral sex with the use of a condom. They then had intercourse.”

The two women are also under investigation on prostitution related charges and have been remanded in police custody for six days.

Investigators had found used condoms, a notebook containing phone numbers of various customers as well as £260 in cash in the apartment – believed to have been earnings from the last three days.

During questioning, the two women named Sergis as the man who ran the operation, in which he would receive £20 for each customer they slept with in return for shelter, food and other personal items they may need.

Sergis was remanded in custody for four days.
