Link-up gives MTN access to new markets

A JOINT venture between telecommunications company MTN and Cyprus based Amaracos Holdings promises to be a landmark in the field of telecommunications in Cyprus.

Amaracos Holdings is jointly owned by Shacolas Group of Companies and Panos Germanos.

Representatives of the companies involved gave details of the business venture and the benefits it would hold for the everyday consumer at a news conference yesterday.

CEO of MTN Cyprus, Bassel Jamaleddine said MTN was committed to continue delivering the service to the Cypriot market, placing the island on the map of the most advanced technological countries.

“MTN Cyprus is an active member of Cypriot society and through this joint venture we plan significantly to boost Cypriot identity,” said Jamaleddine.

He added that the joint venture was a major milestone for the telecommunication field in Cyprus and would have much to offer to the Cypriot consumer.

The joint venture gives MTN access to internet and fixed-line markets.

Nicos Shacolas said that the success of MTN lay in its ability to ally with local companies and provide the market with what it truly needs.

“In Cyprus, telecommunications are a daily necessity, not just in our private lives but also in our workplaces,” said Shacolas.

“This joint venture will be bringing the latest technology in telecommunications to Cyprus, which will be available in the very near future.”

MTN, who were the first to launch mobile broadband, Blackberry solution and Voice SMS in Cyprus, said they planned to continue their service to the Cypriot consumer, who they described as their most valuable asset.
