Greek navy cadets sail into Cyprus

CADETS attending the Hellenic Naval Academy will be arriving in Cyprus on Friday for a four-day visit, in the context of a summer training trip.

This will take place on frigate Boumboulina and the general support ship Prometheus, which will sail into Limassol Port on Friday morning.

The training trip began in Piraeus on July 12 as part of training at sea on the practical implementation of academic studies.

Senior officers will visit National Guard Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Constantinos Bisbikas on Friday afternoon.

The cadets, among whom are five Greek Cypriots, will visit historical and tourist sites, and will attend receptions hosted in their honour.

Furthermore, the ships’ senior officers will host a reception on board Prometheus on Saturday evening, in honour of the political, religious and military authorities of the island.

The public will be able to visit the ships in Limassol Port from Friday until Sunday.

The cadets have also visited Malaga, Bordeaux, Casablanca, Civitavecchia, and the Gavdos and Castellorizo islands in the Aegean.

They will leave Limassol for Heraklion in Crete.
