Nuclear speculation giving Turkey the green light

Sir,

Reading how the Energy Services are conducting a study on the possibility of setting up a nuclear power station in Cyprus, it saddens me that the government is being sucked in to a conspiracy to give the green light to Turkey to build its own nuclear power station on its south coast. We are in an earthquake zone and it is impossible to build a guaranteed earth quake proof nuclear power plant! This alone is all that is needed not to build a nuclear power plant in Cyprus, the financial issues and feasibility study don’t even need to be considered! Cyprus unfortunately is a pawn in international games from the world powers so arguably it’s hard to avoid being used in their power games. If our political leaders from all parties officially in a written agreement ban any form of nuclear power plant being built on the island it will put pressure on the international community to stop Turkey building on its south shore.

And certainly no feasibility study should be allowed as this will also help give the green light to Turkey.
