Where can this nutter test drive a Hummer?

Sir,

Robert Brew’s letter “Gas guzzling disbelief” blurs the boundary of scientific fact and political ideology – man-made climate change theory has evolved from a concerted media scare to a point of religious fervour. Only a heretic or a “nutter” could possibly dispute this cause and effect of global warming. This, despite the fact that the evidence is at best, questionable.

From mediaeval vineyards in the Northern England to ice skating on the Thames in the 19th century, our climate changes continually. Solar activity presents a much more compelling scientific reason. Carbon output levels are arguably a by-product of temperature, not the cause of it.

A hypothesis needs challenge to emerge as a robust model. At the moment, we blindly accept that the end is nigh and it’s all our fault. In fact, the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere is very small. The percentage of that which is man made is smaller still. As our policy of planting alternative energy is leading thousands to starvation, we should remember basic school science. The earth’s carbon emissions stimulate plant growth.

We ignore underlying political agendas and mounting dissent in the scientific community. The climate change industry is big business. Its detractors are met with ridicule and disdain. Whoever is right, our unquestioning support of this movement is already having a devastating effect on the developing world.

Let’s not automatically believe what we’re told. The earth wasn’t flat and there were no weapons of mass destruction.

Now where can this nutter test drive a Hummer?
