A selfish attitude to water

Sir,

It is quite obvious to everyone that there is a severe water shortage on the island. Everyone should do their part to conserve what’s left, small measures mount up to big savings. According to an article in the Cyprus Mail today, there are now no new water tanks left on the island, they have all been sold to the selfish people of Cyprus who think it’s their right to have as much water as they need. Installing extra water tanks will only add to the problem and they are taking water away from those who are trying hard to help the situation. The same people installing these tanks seem to be the same people who are still insisting on switching on their hose to clean around their houses. What’s wrong with a good old mop and bucket?
Where are the government officials who are supposed to be issuing fines in such cases? How much has been collected so far? It would be interesting to know.
