Ratings in team assessing Cyprus

A DELEGATION from Standard & Poor’s arrived on the island yesterday, where they will hold meetings with the Central Bank and Finance Ministry in order to assess the strength of the island’s economy.

Ana Mates and Trevor Cullinan discussed domestic economy, fiscal policy and prospects, financing of public debt and government guarantees, before meeting with Finance Minister Charilaos Stavrakis and Central Bank Governor Athanasios Orphanides today.

Tomorrow, the duo is set to switch its attention to inflation and credit growth and balance of payments developments.

Standard & Poor’s publishes financial research and analysis on stocks and bonds. It is one of the top three companies in this business, along with Moody’s and Fitch Ratings.
