Blanket fire causes 50,000 worth of damage

THE Nicosia district home of a family of six suffered €50,000 worth of damage after a blanket caught fire in the living room, police said.

The blaze broke out at around 3.30pm when the blanket, which was placed next to a liquid gas heater, went up in flames.

The Fire Services were immediately dispatched to the scene to put out the blaze.
A 47-year-old man, with his wife and four children, reside in the house.

Kokkinotrimithia police station is investigating.
