CY among Europe’s least punctual airlines

CYPRUS Airways has been found to be among the three least punctual airlines in the EU in a survey by the Association of European Airlines.

The national carrier’s punctuality rate in 2007 was projected as the third worst, with only 64 per cent of its flights departing and arriving on time. Spanai and TAP Portugal performed even worse, with 63 per cent and 60 per cent of flights respectively on time.

British Airways also performed poorly, only just managed to beat Cyprus Airways with a 65 per cent punctuality rate.

Central Europe’s national airlines were spotted as the most punctual, according to the survey, published on Friday in the Prague Monitor.

Although LUX Air and KLM Royal Dutch Airlines snatched first and second place respectively, the western carriers were followed by a number of East/Central European airlines, with Austrian Airlines securing a close third place, Mal?v-Hungarian Airlines coming fourth, Tarom (Romania’s national carrier) sixth and Czech Airlines eighth. Brussels Airlines and Air France secured fifth and seventh place.
