Keravnos and APOEL keep perfect records intact

COURTNEY Fells scored 17 points and four more players entered double digits as Keravnos Strovolos topped Frederick Achilleas Kaimakliou 78-74 in the third round of the national basketball championship at the Kostas Papaellinas Arena in Strovolos on Wednesday night.

Joseph Garcia scored 12 points for Keravnos Strovolos, while Panayiotis Trisokkas and Slavko Stefanovic each had 10. Kevin Johnson recorded a double-double with 10 points and as many rebounds.

Tyrell Biggs led Frederick Achilleas Kaimakliou with 20 points and 12 rebounds, while Savo Dikanovic hauled down 10 boards as well as his 18 points. Anthony Johnson chipped in with 16 points. Bobby Frasor dished out a game-high five assists.

Elsewhere, at the Lefkotheo Indoor Arena, Cytavision APOEL beat Omonia 72-65, inspired by Ian Hanavan’s 16 points.

Arthur Lee added 15 for the defending champions, while Dejan Dunovic and Aleksandar Radojevic had 16 and 15 points for Omonia respectively.

Keravnos and APOEL now top the league standings with three wins from as many games and in the next round this weekend, they will try to maintain their perfect records.

The Strovolos team visit the Tassos Papadopoulos Eleftheria Athletic Centre where they will take on Omonia, while APOEL travel to Limassol to face Proteas DaNoi AEL.

In the other two games that were played on Wednesday night, YDRA Asphalistiki ENAD upset AEK at the Kition Athletic Centre in Larnaca 61-56 with Balsa Radunovic leading the way with 17 points, while Pizza Express Apollon surprised Intercollege/ETHA in Nicosia 80-70.
