Club review: Chanel club, Paphos

Chanel club in Paphos opened its doors to the public for the first time on October 1 and provided locals with a great clubbing experience. As the summer clubs close outside bars for the winter, Chanel is just what Paphos needs.

With steps leading up to the glamorous frontage, Chanel is located in a prime position on the seafront road of Poseidonos Avenue in Kato Paphos. The venue has previously been a restaurant and a bar, but at first glance it seems as if this incarnation as Chanel club will be the most successful.

The opening night was a roaring success, with a good selection of music provided by resident DJ Neo Angel and other guest DJs.

A blonde violinist dressed head to foot in white took to the stage and gave a stunning performance on her electric violin accompanied by some classic dance tracks.

The interior of Chanel is mostly white with a splash of colour here and there. Clever lighting, including a spectrum of shades, provides additional va va voom.

The age group was mostly the over 25s and the atmosphere was friendly and flirty. The central bar is wide and spacious and a VIP area and a number of tables come with waitress service.

The staff, both male and female, are dressed in glamorous clothes and they – from those on the door to bar staff and waitresses inside the stylish club – all exhibited a high level of professionalism and charm, which can be hard to come by in Paphos. Let’s hope they keep up this standard.

Drinks are reasonably priced and local and imported brands are both on offer. The opening night saw a good number of champagne corks being popped and judging from the buzz going around Paphos since then, it looks as if this is going to be the new destination for the winter club scene.

Chanel’s location will ensure a good amount of passing trade, but as many will know, parking in the area can be a problem. Inquisitive tourists will be enticed by the stylish exterior and friendly attractive staff and Chanel is already gaining a loyal local following with its Facebook group growing on a daily basis.

Special events are planned for the season and ‘Chanelites’ will be informed of the programme via Facebook.

The club also caters for larger groups, a hen party was held in the VIP area on the opening night.

Despite the failure of two of the venue’s three air-conditioning units – they have now been fixed – which greatly affected the ventilation of the club, everyone had a great time and assured they would be back for more. To secure a table or place at the bar, reservations are essential.

A night at Chanel promises glamour, good music, charming staff and great fun. It’s not to be missed.
