Yves Rocher Raspberry Fizzy Bath Cube
Yves Rocher is committed to producing beauty products based on plant extracts, a process that started over 50 years ago. According to the website, this small cube dissolves in water into a multitude of tiny perfumed bubbles that burst on your skin. It did produce quite a few bubbles and sped round the floor of the bath, leaving the water bright pink with a light raspberry scent. Also available in coconut or vanilla.

Marks and Spencer Bath Fizzers
Part of the Ingredients range of beauty products, these fizzers come in a pack of three that the store promises are fantastically fruity. Wrapped in citrus patterned paper, they are citrus scented and while they spin around in the water like mad their scent is not that strong. Does leave the skin feeling soft and smooth though. With Christmas coming up, I should imagine the choice of bath bombs at Marks and Spencer will increase.
Price: €6 for three bombs

L’Occitane Lavender Fizzy Bath Pebble
A mid-sized bath fizzer that contains essential oil from the same lavender as that used by the perfume industry, which is one of a range available in store. As such it is no surprise that this fizzer fills the bathroom with the calming scent of lavender, and also colours the water slightly purple. The packet suggests dropping into the bath and relaxing, which is exactly what I did. Will also leave skin soft, smooth and slightly scented.

Crabtree & Evelyn La Source Relaxing Bath Tablets
Relaxing is the important word here. These blue tablets fizz round like mad producing lots and lots of little bubbles that leave the bath water a pale shade of blue with a strong, pleasant smell filling the bathroom. The tablets are infused with minerals and natural sea algae to help calm and relax the mind and body, which they did. Leaves the skin smelling fragrant too. Come in a box of ten so these are for serious bath takers only.

Lush Space Girl Bath
Lush founders apparently invented bath fizzers and the store has a huge range. We settled on Space Girl, perhaps one of the largest available on the market. With its Saturn-like shape, it has the scent of blackberries, and turns the bath water a similar colour after bubbling away like mad for a couple of minutes. Also contains grapefruit oil to refresh and tone. Leaves the skin feeling soft and smooth although the glitter was just left behind after the bath had been emptied. All Lush products include organic ingredients and what the company terms safe synthetics in addition to being ethically sourced and vegetarian. The only down side? The store is no longer in operation in Nicosia. We loved this product and the company’s fun approach to cosmetics is refreshing.

Fresh Line Ares Bath Ball
This was a huge ball – bigger than a tennis ball – and made lots of bubbles in the bath, turning it an orangey colour with the cloves and slice of orange included in the ball floating on top of the bath. Made with essential oils of orange, cinnamon, tangerine, neroli, cedar wood, bergamot and clove, this ball is designed to stimulate and energise. It also left the bathroom smelling a bit like someone was making mulled wine in there – not necessarily a bad thing. Fresh Line has a range of balls including some designed for men. All products are made with organic ingredients and are Sodium Lauryl Sulphate and parabens free. Made in Greece, they all have a mythological name too. We loved this one and the essential oils left the skin soft with a light scent of orange and spices.

Soapbox Butterfly Bath delight
This one was literally hot off the press, the first made this year by Soap Box as they gear up for the winter season. Made from baking soda, citrus acid, sea salt and different essential oils on site in Limassol, it fizzed away lightly in the bath, giving it a slightly blue colour. It smelt very pleasantly of citrus fruits and proved a refreshing way to have a soak. A range of bath delights and larger bath bombs are available, while you can even tailor make your own bath bombs, just let the shop know what you fancy and they can create it. The shop is also due to soon produce herbal-bath bombs prepared with dried herbs and essential oils as well as sea salt from the Dead Sea and Epsom salts to turn your bath into an aromatherapy session.
Price: €1.50 or €3 for the bath bombs
