Where are the transparent legal practices?

I have read with great interest your recent correspondence relating to the dissatisfaction that several of your readers have expressed about the legal infrastructures of Cyprus. This is a most serious matter for Cyprus and the continued economic prosperity of its people since it is having an increasingly negative effect on the confidence of potential investors and expatriate residents.

Since assuming membership of the European Union Cyprus has had the responsibility of establishing transparent legal practices which correspond to Europe’s standards. The recent correspondence to this paper alleges that this is not the case and indicates that Cyprus is not currently capable of establishing, or maintaining legal-standards of practice that meet the expectations of clients and that the time has now come to appeal for direct EU intervention.

It will indeed be unfortunate for Cyprus should non-Cypriot EU residents be obliged to request the intervention of their respective MEPs and the international-press to investigate this matter.
