Winding down the week

By Maria Gregoriou

It may only be Tuesday but it doesn’t hurt to plan ahead to how you can relax at the end of the week and the Home for Co-operation in Nicosia has something to get rid of the week’s stress and calm us right down for the weekend.

This Thursday the home will present a musical event by the Amalgamation Project entitled A Journey from the Heart to the Singing of the Lips.

The band, Veronica Aloneftou on the Santour and vocals, Maria Ploumi, on the lute and vocals and Vasiliki Anastastiou on vocals, will perform songs from Asia Minor and the Greek islands.

All the songs will come from the heart and rise up to the lips – as the title suggests – and the girls are welcoming anyone who loves music to join them on this musical journey.

On Friday the mood moves from music to mediation with Elena Iacovou.

Iacovou will give a series of meditation sessions at the Home to help participants realise that our inner world is our subconscious mind.

Our mind contains powerful forces and energies that shape our life, including our instincts, feelings, behaviours and desires.

Iacovou will teach how to use meditation to connect with our inner world so we can harness the vast power of the subconscious then direct this power to whatever it is we desire.
