Robbery at Psimolofou co-op

POLICE were yesterday in search of three men in connection with an armed robbery at the Psimolofou co-op.
The hooded thieves made away with around €56,000, police said.
At a little before noon, two hooded men barged into the Nicosia village shop with hunting rifles, demanding the cashier empties the tills.
Police said the two men spoke in Greek, shouting ‘Listia’ (robbery) before ordering the two cashiers to give them the money.
They even harassed a female customer who was in the shop at the time, but she managed to flee the scene once the thieves’ backs were turned.
Witnesses said a third man was waiting for them outside in a pick-up truck, which was reported stolen two days ago, and they fled the scene.
Police searched the area by air and ground, but to no avail. The escape car, according to witnesses, was a grey or silver Mitsubishi pick-up truck, with the last digits of its registration number being 620. Anyone with information on its whereabouts must contact police at Nicosia Headquarters, the nearest police station or the civilian hotline on 1460.
