Parking facilities at Paphos airport

The new Paphos airport is a considerable improvement over the previous facility and overall, gives a good first and lasting impression to arriving and departing visitors. One aspect however that is in need of immediate attention is accessibility of parking for the disabled.

On the evening of September 22, I was at the airport to meet an incoming flight. It was a busy time and parking slots near the terminal were hard to find.

Accepting I would have to park in one of the more distant spaces, I did so with good grace. On walking to the terminal, I was astounded to see all the disabled spaces were occupied by hire cars.
I should point out that I am not disabled but were I so, I would have had no option other than to park on the periphery of the area.

Paphos airport employs a considerable army of – often officious – traffic officers whose sole aim seems to be keeping vehicles moving past the drop-off point. Indeed, there were four in the space of 100 metres.

May I suggest some of these could be re-deployed to ensure the disabled are able to use the facility designed for them? There are designated areas for hire car pick-up and return. Enforce their use, even if it means representatives have to walk more than a few yards. They can do so, the disabled cannot.
