Hasikos pledges aid for Paphos communities

Interior minister Socratis Hasikos chaired a meeting with the leaders of various Paphos villages on Friday, in which he pledged government funds for emergency and mature projects.

The session was held at the local council office of Steni, Paphos, and was attended by the leaders of villages Yiolou, Goudi, Lysos, Miliou, Peristerona, Skoulli, Filousa Chrysochous, Choli, Chrysochou, and Steni, as well as Interior ministry technocrats.

As announced, the aim of the meeting was to address issues facing these communities, so that residents in these villages are benefited to the greatest extent possible.

An effective measure in this effort, Hasicos told the community leaders, would be the clustering of services offered by individual local authorities.

He pledged financial help for the execution of emergency and mature projects.

At the meeting, various issues were discussed in detail, including the maintenance and improvement of country and viticulture road networks, anti-flooding and sewerage projects, improving irrigation infrastructure, bridge-building and the face-lifting of traditional village centres.
