Is the wearing of crash helmets in Cyprus compulsory or not?

Regarding the letter posted by Matthew Stowell, I have to agree with some of what he is saying.  However I can’t see how he can say the police are corrupt, I’m not saying they are or they are not.  BUT they do need to stop these kids from using the seafront road as a drag strip and it’s not just down by Debenhams.  This is happening all along the front, up at the traffic lights outside the Arsinoe hotel as well.  It seems up there that it’s a proverbial red rag to a bull.

I visit Cyprus every year for my annual holidays and every time I have been there after dark crossing the road is like taking your life in your hands, even at the pelican crossings.  The police solution to it is to drive up and down with their blue lights flashing and that’s it.

Does this practice only take place in Limassol or is it also going on in Paphos, Larnaca and other holiday places?

Is the wearing of crash helmets compulsory in Cyprus or not as this year I have seen loads of kids flying down the road with no helmets on and doing wheelies along the strip some with young girls on the back of them.

Something needs to be done and quickly.
