National Council to convene July 24

Government Spokesman Stefanos Stefanou announced that the National Council – the top advisory body to the President on the handling of the Cyprus question – will convene on July 24.

At the meeting, he said, political party leaders will discuss developments in the Cyprus question, in view of December 2009 and the evaluation of Turkey’s EU accession course.

Stefanou said that the National Council will be briefed on current developments in the Cyprus question and will discuss them, in view of Turkey’s EU evaluation.

Asked if the parties are expected to submit their positions in writing, Stefanou said that they have been asked by the President to submit them long ago and they are expected to do so. (CNA)
