Recycling comes to Paphos

COLLECTION of recyclable materials started in Paphos district yesterday. Eight areas are included in the first phase of the ambitious scheme, operated by the recycling company Green Dot.

The municipalities of Paphos, Yeroskipou and Peyia and the communities of Chlorakas, Kissonerga, Mesoyi, Tala and Emba are participating in the scheme.

Green Dot said they expected the project to run smoothly, as for the last two weeks the company and local authorities, have placed special bins in all the relevant spots.

The company also stated that an extensive information campaign had been well received by the public.

The coloured bins, which relate to a specific type of re-cyclable material, have been placed in various spots across the area. Products such as paper, cardboard and glass will be collected from the 150 designated areas and recycled by Green Dot as part of the first phase of the project.
