Who really cares about Cyprus?

We have the constant bleating from GCs who have property in the north being occupied by TCs and expats. And yet, I would lay odds on that many of these people are property developers more than happy to sell to expats in the south, there are 100,000 people still waiting for title deeds. Many homes are mortgaged by developers over and over again.
I will not call the people who have paid for these properties ‘owners’, as until you have title deeds you are not legally the owner and losing everything you have is a real risk.

Do the developers care about Cyprus and her reputation? I would say no.

The hatred of foreigners moving to Cyprus – particularly the British – is becoming more and more obvious. At one time Cypriots would at least hide their contempt behind false smiles, they do not bother now.

Many British expats I am in contact with genuinely love Cyprus and her people. And really believe that the affection is a two way thing.

Do they care about Cyprus? I would say yes.

The Russians, well, their love affair with Cyprus will not last long Rather like a summer fling with a handsome gigolo, as soon as they have had what they want they will move on .

Do they care about Cyprus? Temporarily, it is a passing fancy.

One day soon, the expats will all leave, the tourists will stop coming, and the Russians will find a new playmate. What then?
