The quiet Ayia Napa

A couple of years back, people like me said owners of bars and restaurants were beginning to get very greedy. Cyprus’ reputation for being so friendly towards holidaymakers flew out of the window in places like Ayia Napa a few years ago.

I’ve been 28 times to Ayia Napa and am coming back this Saturday for a holiday and can’t wait. I love the place, the sun is free, the beaches are free and that’ll do for me. My old hidden pocket flask of brandy might come in handy with the rise in bar prices on my nights out – but the joys of empty beaches, no idiots in the square and the chance to perhaps have a nice quiet walk along Konnos Bay with no holidaymakers in sight sounds appealing.

Come on Ayia Napa – don’t rip us off. Lots of us remember how much we enjoyed coming before the nightclub boom.

I fully appreciate how expensive it is to run a business nowadays but ripping off customers is not a good way to keep holidaymakers coming back.

I appreciate it is going to cost my wife and I a lot more whilst in the resort next week and I am prepared for that – less eating out might do my figure and health a world of good but the main thing is I am coming back to a smashing place that I love to bits and I hope restaurant and bar owners might just appreciate our custom a bit more this time .
