Municipalities meet

THE municipality of Engomi in the Nicosia district is hosting representatives from three Greek municipalities as part of efforts to address its social issues.

The municipality is hosting representatives from its twinned municipalities Chania, Ithaki and Ptolemaida between March 29 and April 2.

On Monday the four municipalities met and exchanged views and experiences on social problems such as teenage delinquency and school violence, as well as environmental and financial issues.

They also discussed proposals for future co-operations and ways to exploit European programmes. The representatives agreed to study a proposal submitted by Engomi municipality to set up an annual conference with the participation of all municipalities to discuss common problems.
