I hope prices are better this time around

The problems facing the tourism industry in Cyprus will not go away until the government and the industry itself face up to the reality of the situation.

European destinations as a whole are suffering because of the weakness of the pound but some are fighting against this problem. Sadly Cyprus isn’t.

Package holidays to the island are far more expensive than most European resorts and when you arrive in Cyprus, costs are far higher as well. Turkey offers a lot more value when tourists do not have the spending power of previous years – that’s if you can put up with the awful flight times to Turkey.

Bars and restaurants need to realise they have to cut prices to lure the British back. For many years I spent my holidays in Cyprus, but for the past three years I have visited Spain, Majorca, Menorca and Turkey and had a great time at a reasonable price.

This year I will be returning to Cyprus, it has cost me more. I hope to find good value, so I can tell all my friends that Cyprus is not a bad choice after all.

Looking forward to a warm welcome as usual.
