A CAR BOMB went off during the early hours of yesterday in Limassol, police said.
The explosion went off at around 3.25am while the vehicle was parked in an empty field outside the 24-year-old owner’s home. The bomb caused a fire which destroyed the woman’s car completely, police said.
Police and fire department officials were dispatched to the scene and put out the blaze.
The explosion was caused by a manmade bomb in conjunction with flammable material.
Limassol CID is investigating.
POLICE are investigating a possible arson attack which targeted a tractor and truck in the Larnaca district during the early hours of yesterday.
The fire broke out at around 4.10am while the tractor and truck were parked in an open field in Maroni village. The vehicles belonged to a 66-year-old Larnaca resident, police said.
The tractor was completely destroyed in the blaze, while the truck suffered extensive damage.
Zygi police station is investigating.
POLICE said yesterday they had raided a Nicosia premises on Thursday night and found eight people illegally gambling on horse races and dog races.
From the scene investigators confiscated €290 in cash, five television sets, the schedules of horse races and dog races and other papers.
Ayios Dometios police station is investigating.
TWO TEENAGERS were injured in yet another road accident in Nicosia, police said yesterday.
The accident occurred at around 4pm on Thursday while the 19-year-old and 16-year-old were riding a motorcycle on Kyriakou Matsi Avenue.
Under circumstances being investigated, a 58-year-old man crashed into the pair with his car. The two teens were rushed to Nicosia general hospital where they were kept in for treatment.
Nicosia traffic police is investigating.
LARNACA CID was yesterday investigating why a 35-year-old man was found lying injured in the middle of the road on Thursday evening.
The man was found at around 6.30pm with various injuries on different parts of his body. He was taken to Larnaca general hospital for treatment and from there transferred to Nicosia general hospital, where he was kept in.
A state pathologist examined the victim and ruled out any criminal activity, police said.
A 31-YEAR-OLD Nicosia money transfer company owner yesterday reported thieves had broken into her business sometime between 10am on Wednesday and 9.20pm on Thursday. The woman told police the thieves had made off with €2,200 in cash and a number of prepaid phone cards worth around €1,741.
